ROM program

Notes:

Sensible operating systems allow the
ROM boot program to boot from any
readable device attached to the system,
including every disk or CD, network
devices, etc.

Hardware can be designed so that
each device controller loads into the
equivalent of the BIOS a boot program
for any of the devices which it controls.

Because most hardware is designed to
work with a single operating system,
there is usually only one boot program
per device.

Most ROM boot programs allow you to
configure the boot process to some
extent, to select the primary device and
perhaps set some options.
