You may think of GRUB as something
like LILO, but in many ways it is like a
small operating system. It has its own
commands, some of which are not
directly connected with booting. It has
its own names for disks and partitions,
it knows about networks and some file
systems. Unlike LILO, you install it only
once. It is, or can be, interactive.
Compared to LILO, it has a different
set of strengths and weaknesses.
